This type of lupin, unlike the perennial lupin, which is known from the Danish nature, is an annual and flowers the first year. The annual lupin's flower is less showy than that of the perennial lupin, but has a subdued elegance that the perennial lupin cannot match.
This type of lupin is often used in agriculture as a cover crop, as its roots are good at loosening the soil at depth. In Portugal, for example, lupin beans are eaten as a snack, in salads and in hot dishes. Furthermore, the beans can be ground into flour. So, all in all, a plant with many properties.
