This calliopsis is a beautiful, tall flower with egg yolk yellow petals and a reddish brown centre. It grows well in groupings and does not require much space as the plant itself is slender and not full and you are sometimes surprised by the "yellow suns" that appear because you have not noticed the plant itself. Calliopsis is great in bouquets and the deflowered flower heads can be used in decorations.
Throughout the ages, calliopsis has been used as a dye plant for wool and silk.
