The colourful field marigold is the little sister of the calendula (which you can also find on this page). The flower heads are smaller, the body is more plump and bushy and the flowering is unrivalled. The field marigold produces flower after flower all the way into September. The sun-yellow marigold flowers are real insect magnets and the area of the garden where they grow is buzzing.

After flowering, you should carefully harvest some of the seeds to create your own Halloween decorations :) The whole seed heads look exactly like greyish-black spiders - see the picture where I have one on my hand - can you tell it's not a real spider?
