The greater celandine is a beautiful, undemanding lady that can thrive in the perennial bed, under a hedge and in the kitchen garden. Considered a weed by some because of its tendency to pop up unannounced in all sorts of places, it is also easy to remove. Greater celandine blooms with small, simple and extremely delicate sunyellow flowers throughout the summer. Greater celandine is a traditional medicinal plant that has been used for many ailments and can always be identified by the orange milky sap that appears when you break the stem.
If the greater celandine is cut back shortly after deflowering, you can get an extra bloom in late summer.
