You don't need to have many of these plants to have enough for a family. A single plant is enough, as it grows into a huge (tall) plant and produces lots of leaves throughout the season. Lovage is used as a spice in many different kinds of dishes, in homemade broths and as a soup stock.
The plant itself is extremely beautiful and vigorous with beautiful large green leaves and flower stems of up to 1.5 metres - in optimal conditions even up to 2 metres. However, you should not grow lovage for the flowers, but rather for the plant's vigour and for the taste. They come back year after year and only grow stronger and healthier.
There are not many herb plants in Denmark that can compete with lovage in vitality and joy of life.
