Lavender is the perennial in the garden that invites the most life in the form of insects, bees and butterflies. If you touch the flower or stem lightly, the wonderful scent of lavender spreads throughout the garden and you will be able to smell it on your fingers long afterwards. This is due to the high concentration of essential oils in the plant.
In addition to the scent and insect life, lavender is also just beautiful to look at and lavender can easily be shaped into bushes around beds etc.
Lavender flowers can also be eaten, dried and used in tea or dried and hung in the wardrobe, where it helps to keep moths away.
Lavender is a marvellous flower in every way and one I wouldn't want to be without in my garden.
