The wild teasel is a flower you either love or hate. Those who love it do so because of its beautiful large egg-shaped flower heads that continuously bloom purple from the bottom upwards and because they attract lots of bees and butterflies to the garden. In addition, the dried flowers can be used in decorations and dry bouquets and the fresh flowers can be used in large country bouquets. Those who hate it do so because it stings - wear gloves when picking a bouquet - and because it self-seeds. However, this can be avoided by cutting off the flower stalks before they set seed.
Here at Lindelyst we love the wild teasel, because of the life it gives to the garden and its enormous size - There are not many flowers that grow taller than me :) but we are careful not to let it spread too much.
